Driving Transformation On, Behind and Beyond the stage in the Performing Arts in Geneva
FEDORA's Activities
On the occasion of Opera Europa’s Autumn Conference at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, we hosted a new edition of our Next Stage capacity-building workshops, bringing together creative professionals from across Europe to explore concrete strategies for transformation in the performing arts.
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions focused on sustainability, inclusion & diversity, and digital transformation, guided by our expert partners — Aktionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit Thema1, BPI Learn, and the IMZ International Music + Media Centre — with the support of the Creative Europe Programme of the European Commission.
The workshops fostered dynamic discussions and cross-disciplinary collaboration, empowering cultural leaders to design actionable initiatives that promote a more sustainable, inclusive, and digitally connected future for the opera sector.
The conference also featured a wide range of inspiring exchanges — from innovative fundraising and audience engagement strategies to major renovation and sustainability projects presented by the Royal Swedish Opera, Opéra National de Paris, Finnish National Opera and Ballet, and Oper Leipzig, both winners of the Next Stage Grants.
A highlight was the presentation of The Curing Line by Straymaker, winner of the FEDORA Opera Prize 2025, set to premiere in 2026, by our innovations & partnership Manager Diandra and Shawn Fitzgerald Ahern, and a reflection on a decade of innovation enabled through the FEDORA Prizes, presented by our Director Edilia Gänz.
We extend our warm thanks to Opera Europa, our hosts at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, and all partners and participants for their invaluable collaboration in advancing creativity, sustainability, and innovation in the performing arts.
